Hello everyone, apologies I’ve been very quiet of late but I have been busy crocheting so about to spam you from makes over the summer. New full time job and puppy have taken over a bit so I fell behind on my blogs.
I completed another Baby Pandemonium Blanket from all thinks crochet I do love this pattern as you know from previous blogs.
I kept this one simple in the colours of now, grey and white, sparkly baby yarn from BnM and it’s beautiful in just the two colours.
This was an order that I could never get back hold of once it was complete, isn’t that the most annoying thing? Oh well someone’s loss is someone’s gain.
Good evening everyone, I hope you are all safe and well? It’s the start of yet another week in lockdown and what are you doing to get through it? Me it’s definitely my crochet I’m not sure what I would do without it on these long dark cold evenings alone, it really does help.
Over Christmas I nipped to BnM with my mum for our toiletries and of course I couldn’t not stop at the yarn, it just sucks me in even when I do my best to avoid it. Well I am so glad that I gave in because I spotted this beautiful chunky white multi coloured spot yarn. My local stores never really have a great amount of stock so I brought all they had (5).
I didn’t have a clue what I was going to make but knew I needed it, well it so happened that my close friends announced the arrival of tiny feet in July 21, if this wasn’t a sign I don’t know what was. Out came my favourite baby blanket pattern and off I went.
I was worried when I started on three fronts 1) Would I have enough yarn? 2) Would the pattern work with one colour? 3) are the recipients going to like it? Well it was soon apparent that no I wouldn’t have enough yarn so I started to panic knowing what the stock levels are like around me. I went along to a different store and there it was six left and in the basket they went. As for looking good in one colour, absolutely it pops lovely. The recipients loved it so all worries soon evaporated.
I had enough yarn left over to make a touch sensitive octopus that matches and looks cool with the spots from the yarn.
This baby blanket has to be my favourite, I just love making them, it never gets boring and works up so quickly, before you know it you’re staring the border.

Happy Sunday everyone hope you’re all well and safe and going to get out and enjoy this rare November sunshine here in the UK today. I certainly will be as soon as I’ve submitted this blog it will be a nice long walk in the woods for me and the schnauzers. What are your plans?
That’s it, it’s all complete, 6 weeks gone just like that but what a journey it’s been. The end result being this beautiful Christmas blanket that can be enjoyed year after year. The pictures are taken on a king sized bed so will easily cover a single bed to add that Christmas touch to any bedroom.
I say this every week but I truly mean this, thank you @The Wee House of Crochet, @The Crochet Sanctuary & @Lynda’s Craft room for such a wonderful design that’s kept my mind so very occupied during another lockdown alone. It has been the best therapy I could’ve asked for to help me through the end of this god awful year. I have so much yarn left over that I must make something to match or maybe some hats?
I have enjoyed every single stitch and sharing this journey with everyone each week. I am a little sad that it is over but I have plenty of other things on my ever growing list to do.

When I started the Christmas CAL I was downloading the introduction before part 1 was released, I noticed they also had a baby blanket in the files that I couldn’t resist. I planned to start one as soon as I finished the Christmas CAL but a few days after downloading and printing ready I got a request for a baby blanket. No particular request for type, no specifics other than colour, which wasn’t to be traditional but autumnal. Oh this was so meant to be I couldn’t wait I had to start it as soon as I could.
I planned to use my stash as I had odd bits of all the colours I required but then I saw my favourite yarn on offer through The Knitting Network, so I picked 5 colours, paid and true to knitting networks form it arrived the next day. Yarn was quickly wound into cakes and that was it I did as much as I can in-between waiting for the new parts of the CAL to be released.
It was beautiful to work up, the soft yarn of Style Crafts Special DK and the amazing pattern that kept you wanting to create the next section because they all just stood out and popped with each different colour that was added. The only thing that I changed on the pattern was the final round of the border, and that was only because it didn’t sit right with the colours chosen so I simply added rounds of single and half trebles to finish.
What a beauty it is, and was nice to make a baby blanket away from the norm of pinks, blues, lemons and mints. I will be making more of these that is for sure. Thank you The Wee House of Crochet, Lynda’s Craft Room & The Crochet Sanctuary for creating such beauty again.
Well that’s all the the body of the blanket complete and it’s huge. It will easily cover a single bed when it’s finished. Giant snowflake bobbles again this week and I have to say with the weight of it now I was glad to get past this section. Worth it though look how they stand out they look so good.
Friday will see the final part of this CAL release and will be the border and then that’s it, it will be done, wow where has that 6 weeks gone? it’s gone so quickly and I’m so happy that I have been able to stay on track and not fall behind. Cannot wait to finish it now, Roll on Friday.

Oh its so big and snuggly now, 2 more weeks to go and I can’t wait to finish it and see it in it’s full glory. There is a bonus to making blankets this time of the year though they do keep you warm whilst working on them.
It was back to the mountains, trees and christmas kisses from part 2 again this week. I do love this mosaic work that creates the trees, I have never done this kind of crochet before so glad we got to do another set of them.
I was a little late completing this week due to illness over the weekend and first part of the week but as soon as I could I wanted to crack on with it ready for part 5 being released in the morning.
I finished it late on Tuesday night but wanted to wait till we had some sunshine before taking the pictures of it today, I do think it makes my work so much better in the sun.

Wow we are half way through already and its getting big and heavy to work with now, but keeps you warm in the process, bonus at this time of the year.
This week was one huge snowflake of bobbles, which I’m a little disappointed in to be fair they seem quite flat and I keep pushing them back through, plus I miss counted on one of the small ones and now can not see past it.
Debating whether I should frog it and do it again, will it bug me too much or can I get past it, that is the question, what do you think?

As another lockdown looms over us this week the remainder of this CAL will be completed during it so I am so thankful that I will have it to keep me sane. Not sure I would get through it again without my hooks and yarn, anyone else? Starting to feel like it’s never going to end now.

Friday was part 2 release day over on The Crochet Sanctuary’s facebook page and I couldn’t wait to finish work and start it (turns out I couldn’t stop either ha ha)
The first few rows where crisscrossed trebles and how beautiful they are, little did I know what scene they were setting as I as doing them (more on that later)
Then followed by some beautiful Christmas Trees (come on Marie you can do this) was my only thought at this point. I have to confess this is a section you cannot leave and pick back up, you need concentration and counting aloud is a must for this section, I was getting some very strange looks from the schnauzers in the room that’s for sure.
Shhhh mummy we are trying to sleep!
I have never worked this method before so it was new to me and did need to watch the video when I started. It does leave rows of chains on the back of your work, which I will secure with a few darning stitches when the blanket is complete (of before if they start to bug me).
I was very happy for the extra hour we gained last night, due to the clocks going back here in the UK, because I couldn’t put it down and didn’t realise the time when I finished. I needed something to occupy my mind after some devastating news received yesterday and part 2 of this beautiful CAL was perfect.
I weaved in all my ends this morning and as I lay it in position for today’s blog pictures it came to life before my eyes. Those beautiful snow capped rolling mountains the backdrop to a forest of trees and fallen leaves and trodden in snow all mashed together, No? just me?, Well that’s what I see anyway ha ha.

Last Friday saw the start of another CAL I wasn’t going to do but then couldn’t resist. I finished Part 1 last night but wanted to wait until today to take the pictures for today’s blog.
This may sound weird to you but straight blankets done in rows scare me a little, I always mess my counting up and lose or gain stitches and get quite a few rows in thinking I’m doing really well then I lay it flat and see the wavy sides. I spend more time frogging than crocheting.
So stitch markers at the ready, yarn arrived and wound into cakes ready, pattern downloaded and printed – lets do this!
Knitting Network supplied the packs for the cal, there are actually two CALS running Christmas Eve and Morning, Eve in Stylecraft Aran and Morning in style craft DK. I opted for the Eve pack purely on colour choice.
Alas the stitch markers didn’t help with less frogging, UGH, plenty of frogging, tears and a few tantrums where had BUT I persevered through and counting is key on this CAL that’s for sure.
What a pattern though and I now have a new favourite stitch, tiny dc popcorns they’re so cute I love them. And those giant bobble snowflakes were certainly a challenge but don’t they look great?
So happy with it and cannot wait until Part 2 tomorrow.
