Hello all, I bet you’re wondering where I’ve been? Well weeks 7&8 took me quite a while to complete, as you’ll see it’s huge, and I’ve been quite busy with other things recently so been unable to spend as much time on it as I would’ve liked too.
I can’t believe it’s done, those rounds for the border felt like I was never going to finish, but last night I did.

Of course I couldn’t take any decent pictures without the schnauzers getting in on the act. I have a feeling they will be using it more than me. I cannot wait to go camping and fight them for it.

Good evening everyone, I hope you are all safe and well? It’s the start of yet another week in lockdown and what are you doing to get through it? Me it’s definitely my crochet I’m not sure what I would do without it on these long dark cold evenings alone, it really does help.
Over Christmas I nipped to BnM with my mum for our toiletries and of course I couldn’t not stop at the yarn, it just sucks me in even when I do my best to avoid it. Well I am so glad that I gave in because I spotted this beautiful chunky white multi coloured spot yarn. My local stores never really have a great amount of stock so I brought all they had (5).
I didn’t have a clue what I was going to make but knew I needed it, well it so happened that my close friends announced the arrival of tiny feet in July 21, if this wasn’t a sign I don’t know what was. Out came my favourite baby blanket pattern and off I went.
I was worried when I started on three fronts 1) Would I have enough yarn? 2) Would the pattern work with one colour? 3) are the recipients going to like it? Well it was soon apparent that no I wouldn’t have enough yarn so I started to panic knowing what the stock levels are like around me. I went along to a different store and there it was six left and in the basket they went. As for looking good in one colour, absolutely it pops lovely. The recipients loved it so all worries soon evaporated.
I had enough yarn left over to make a touch sensitive octopus that matches and looks cool with the spots from the yarn.
This baby blanket has to be my favourite, I just love making them, it never gets boring and works up so quickly, before you know it you’re staring the border.

Well that’s it, it’s all done for another year. Apologies for the delay in my blog but since finishing the blanket I have moved home so it has been a little hectic shall we say.
The final two weeks was the border of the blanket working in rounds to bring it all together and finish it off. And a new stitch for me Pom Pom Bobbles, a little fiddly shall we say but very affective in bright orange.
And here it is, 12 weeks of lockdown and a very emotional roller coaster for me. This blanket was made through a separation, pandemic, lockdown, furlough, back to work and a new home move. Never going to forget making this blanket am I?

This week was a continuation of week 8 with more puff stitch waves. As I am now use to how they fall in the rows I flew through this week and really enjoyed them.

Good evening everyone, I hope you’ve had a good weekend, It has been very hot and sunny here in the UK and I hope you have made the most of it safely.
Well this weeks rows, inspired by waves, 12 puff stitch waves continuing on the top and bottom edges of the blanket. Sounded a breeze this week, how wrong could I have been.
I could not get my rows to line up, no matter what I did, I frogged so many times and had to turn to the group on Facebook for help. Turns out I was right on the first go, GRRRRRR #annoying #lol.
Not many more weeks to go now cannot believe how quick it has gone to be honest, seems like only a couple of weeks ago that we all started. I cannot wait till it’s all finished now though and it’s in my new home.
Roll on week 9, wishing my life away on a blanket here lol, ahhhhh crochet love.
Evening everyone, I hope you’re all having a great long holiday weekend so far (UK). Another week is complete and with it a realisation that I made a mistake on week 6 that I am not now rectifying (Shhhh no one can see it or tell so I’ll not mention it anymore).
This week we did the opposite side to Week 6 and 4 rows of the top and bottom, now it’s really starting to look like a blanket. Can’t wait for Friday and week 8, I wonder if we will start working in rounds now???

During lockdown we’ve seen a significant increase in craft kits online. I guess now more than ever, more and more people have taken up something new.
Have you started a new hobby or craft?
Will you continue with it post lockdown?
If you have and are enjoying whatever it is you are doing that you do continue with it. Crochet is my escape and helps me to destress. I can get lost in a pattern and watching it come together into something wonderful.
There are so many crafts and hobbies out there now with so much online support and tutorials there is no better time, so if you’ve seen something that you think you might like to try then go for it, nothing to lose have you?
I’ve had my eye on furls for a while, within my social media circles relating to crochet it’s hard not to notice their fantastic range of crochet hooks. I spotted their quarantine kit of a hook, yarn and choice of patterns to download and decided to order one. I had to change my original choice due to demand but I didn’t mind.
I finished a few projects off and decided to get the yarn out and wind it ready to use. Never, I repeat never do this late at night with no ones arms or a chair back to help you. It almost went in the bin a couple of times.
I picked out the princess cowl pattern because the Whims Merino yarn was so soft it was the perfect option. It worked up really quickly and within a couple of hours it was done. A lovely little project to fill a couple of hours thank you Furls.

Hello everyone and Happy Monday to you, hope you are all well?
I had a delayed start this week on week 5’s squares due to one thing or another but I couldn’t wait to get started. I was so happy once I did I just loved this week, inspired by sea glass that gets washed up on our shores which of course meant the return of the bobbles.
And the introduction of a new stitch for me, Pineapple Clusters, What a great effect this stitch makes. Took a while to get my head and fingers around to start with though. Once I did the next couple of rounds where a breeze.
I really enjoyed this week, and I think it’s my favourite so far. It’s also the last of the squares and I do believe that we start putting them all together next week. Roll on Friday and week 6.

Love them or hate them there is no denying that you cannot beat them for a quick, easy and effective blanket. So with this lockdown nightmare continuing, combined with having a clear out, I came across some yarn I brought from a pound-shop on a lodge holiday last year. I loved the colours but was unsure what to make so as with the rest of my stash to the back of the shelf they went.
Out it came a couple of weeks ago and a square was formed and grew. I only had 6 balls of it so had no idea how big it would get, so using a larger than recommended hook, I just kept going until I knew I wouldn’t have enough yarn to go around anymore. I also found a ball of the same yarn in a nice bright orange colour which would be excellent for a border.
It has made a decent enough size at 35inch square so would be great for a pram / pushchair / cot or Childs lap blanket. The colours are amazing you get that warm summer to autumn feel from it, and it washed beautifully soft. Planning a stash buster one to get rid of all the odd pieces of yarn, who knows how that will turn out or how big ;-).
Whilst I was making this blanket a close friend was stating to learn to crochet. Great to see lockdown and furlough going to some good use. She didn’t just attempt to learn she went all in and decided to try her own granny square blanket, Look at what she achieved in a week for her first crochet project.
Just amazing, having passed my Crochet Diploma recently I felt like a proud tutor, mentor, mum, big sis and best friend all rolled into one. Not only did she make this blanket she also made her very own stitch markers and sent me a couple as well. Love them Millie well done and keep going I cannot wait to see what you produce next.
