Changing Tides x 2

After recently adding a new puppy to my collection of schnauzers and posting numerous pictures on line of him. My changing tides blanket by coastal crochet got spotted and requested to be made.

Jumping at the chance to make this beautiful blanket again I reached for my laptop and ordered the yarn. Same colour palette but different shades.

I love how these colours pop on this blanket, I didn’t want to hand it over when it was time too.

It will certainly keep its new owner warm over the coming cold months ahead plus add some much needed beach and sea colours for that vitamin D injection.

Jack & Zero

You may remember me making Jack this time last year? I made him for a friend who unfortunately passed away before I could gift him to her.

Well someone saw him on a post and asked if I could make him and his ghost dog Zero. So I quickly fashioned something to resemble Zero, frogged it changed it and ended up with this which I don’t think turned out too bad.

I do love Jack

Picnic on the Beach Blanket

Hello all, I bet you’re wondering where I’ve been? Well weeks 7&8 took me quite a while to complete, as you’ll see it’s huge, and I’ve been quite busy with other things recently so been unable to spend as much time on it as I would’ve liked too.

I can’t believe it’s done, those rounds for the border felt like I was never going to finish, but last night I did.

What do you think?

Of course I couldn’t take any decent pictures without the schnauzers getting in on the act. I have a feeling they will be using it more than me. I cannot wait to go camping and fight them for it.

Thank you Eleonora at Coastal Crochet for this amazing pattern and sharing it with the world. There have been so many people crocheting along together on it this year from all around the world with some amazing colours in some fantastic settings.

What a wonderful journey out of lockdown.

Take care everyone, see you all soon and thank you for reading.

Picnic on the Beach Blanket – Week 6

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a lovely long Easter break? Who ate their body weight in chocolate? Or drank way more than they should’ve?

I spent mine decorating, garden tidying and week 6 of my blanket was completed yesterday. Back to work for me tomorrow so I plan to relax and not do much today to mentally prepare ha ha.

This week we added more to the side panels and it was all about the hearts and sunsets. Look at those sunsets I loved making them and they look amazing.

I don’t think there are many weeks left now it’s gone so quickly, but I can’t wait to see what this weeks instalment will be. Roll on Friday.

It’s a short week for most here in the UK this week so enjoy it whatever you’re doing, thanks for reading.

Take Care, Marie x x

Picnic on the Beach Blanket – Week 5

Evening everyone, are you all well? It’s been absolutely beautiful the last few days with record breaking temperatures here in the UK. Perfect weather for this blanket.

As predicted it was back to the Tunisian gingham squares x four this week to fill in those corners. I struggled to get them big enough gotta be honest. Several attempts with increasing hook sizes to get there eventually.

I did need to stretch them to make them fit the blanket but I managed and think they look ok. Put it this way I wasn’t doing them again after all that so they were going to fit no matter what, ha ha.

I do love this effect though, if it wasn’t for all those ends I would consider making a large gingham blanket.

Thank you for reading today, enjoy the rest of your week

Picnic on the Beach Blanket – Week 4

Happy Saturday hope you’re all well and safe?
That’s another week done and how much fun was this , creating Sand Castles, kites and shells. Three key things on the beach right? Can you see them? was a fiddly week but well worth it.

I think I can figure out what’s coming up next week, can you? If I’m right then OMG all those ends x 4 *sigh*

Even so I cannot wait, roll on Friday, we seem to flying through it this year which is good as I am so looking forward to finishing and getting it ready for camping trips as soon as we can again.

I hope you are enjoying the journey as much as me, thank you for reading, enjoy your weekend.
Take care, Marie x x x

Picnic on the Beach Blanket Week 3

Evening all, I was late starting this weeks instalment. Had emergency vet trips all weekend so didn’t get chance to print off the pattern until Sunday to make a start.
Doggie is all well and on the mend now, thankfully, in case you were wondering.

So week 3 is all about picnic food and who would have thought you could create food with yarn in a blanket. Thank you Coastal Crochet you really do excel every year.
We have apples, blackberries and cupcakes, can you see them?

Absolutely loved creating this weeks delicious delights, doesn’t it look fabulous?
Roll on Friday for week 4 can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Take care and thank you for reading.

Picnic on the Beach Blanket CAL Week 2

Well I made a right hash of this week, don’t know what’s wrong with me. Long story short I did one of the side panels waves in the back loops of each row rather than just the colour change rows.
What a muppet, It wasn’t till I started the second side that I realised so then I had the mental battle of shall I re do it all?

I decided to carry on with the second side panel and see how bad it would look, turns out it’s more noticeable on the reverse of the blanket so I decided to leave it.

Teach me for wizzing through it like I know what I’m doing won’t it ha ha.

It’s week 3 already tomorrow so lets see what I can bugger up this week, nothing I hope.

Thank you as always for reading, take care and have a lovely weekend. I will be back with week 3 very soon.

Picnic on the Beach Blanket Week 1

I am a little late on my blog catch ups on this one this year, yes it is that time again for the annual crochet along with Coastal Crochet. I love Eleonora’s CALs because I always learn something new and week 1 was no exception. This year the option of colours was summer or Autumn so I opted for Autumn as it has my favourite colour in, can you guess it?

Just look at this Tunisian Entrelac crocheted gingham square to start off this years CAL. So yes you could say I learnt something new straight away.
I was a little worried as I have never really tried Tunisian crochet until recently with not great results I have to confess. I shouldn’t have been, She always does great tutorial videos to support each of her blankets, so I watched studied and off I went.

I looks so effective doesn’t it? But oh my goodness look at all those ends, I think it took longer to weave all those in than it did the whole square itself.

I did make quite a big error on one row but by the time I’d noticed it I’d almost done so I wasn’t frogging it. I wonder if anyone spots it?

Basket Weave (Ugh) love the effect, it hates me. I always lose my way with it and forget to change direction and always end up re doing it and yes this time was no exception. Looks great though and week 2 is already complete so blog will follow soon.

Thank you for reading and watch this space for week 2.
Love you all

Finished Christmas CAL

Happy Sunday everyone hope you’re all well and safe and going to get out and enjoy this rare November sunshine here in the UK today. I certainly will be as soon as I’ve submitted this blog it will be a nice long walk in the woods for me and the schnauzers.
What are your plans?

That’s it, it’s all complete, 6 weeks gone just like that but what a journey it’s been. The end result being this beautiful Christmas blanket that can be enjoyed year after year. The pictures are taken on a king sized bed so will easily cover a single bed to add that Christmas touch to any bedroom.

I say this every week but I truly mean this, thank you @The Wee House of Crochet, @The Crochet Sanctuary & @Lynda’s Craft room for such a wonderful design that’s kept my mind so very occupied during another lockdown alone. It has been the best therapy I could’ve asked for to help me through the end of this god awful year. I have so much yarn left over that I must make something to match or maybe some hats?

I have enjoyed every single stitch and sharing this journey with everyone each week. I am a little sad that it is over but I have plenty of other things on my ever growing list to do.

I know it’s early but Merry Christmas everyone, time to snuggle under it and hibernate. Thanks for sharing this journey with me and taking the time to read my blog each week the support is much appreciated.

Take care, stay safe and love to you all
