Picnic on the Beach Blanket – Week 4

Happy Saturday hope you’re all well and safe?
That’s another week done and how much fun was this , creating Sand Castles, kites and shells. Three key things on the beach right? Can you see them? was a fiddly week but well worth it.

I think I can figure out what’s coming up next week, can you? If I’m right then OMG all those ends x 4 *sigh*

Even so I cannot wait, roll on Friday, we seem to flying through it this year which is good as I am so looking forward to finishing and getting it ready for camping trips as soon as we can again.

I hope you are enjoying the journey as much as me, thank you for reading, enjoy your weekend.
Take care, Marie x x x

Picnic on the Beach Blanket Week 3

Evening all, I was late starting this weeks instalment. Had emergency vet trips all weekend so didn’t get chance to print off the pattern until Sunday to make a start.
Doggie is all well and on the mend now, thankfully, in case you were wondering.

So week 3 is all about picnic food and who would have thought you could create food with yarn in a blanket. Thank you Coastal Crochet you really do excel every year.
We have apples, blackberries and cupcakes, can you see them?

Absolutely loved creating this weeks delicious delights, doesn’t it look fabulous?
Roll on Friday for week 4 can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Take care and thank you for reading.

Baby Puffin Comforter

Hello and Happy Mother’s Day, hope all you mums out here are being deservedly spoilt.
I’ve had a busy time of it recently as you have probably noticed with all my blog spam (sorry not sorry.

There is no better feeling than when someone reaches out to you after seeing your work online and being asked to make them something. Especially when you read “I have seen your work online and know you are the one to make me what I want”
After smiling upon reading this you do take a moment to think oh no what do they want? Ha ha

This one however I couldn’t wait to start it. I ordered the yarn straight away and eagerly anticipated it’s arrival and always The Knitting Network did not disappoint.

I have never worked with flutterby yarn before but as soon as I felt it I immediately knew why it was used for the puffin. My goodness its so soft, not great to work with though (black ugh). On the black sections of the pattern I couldn’t see the stitches most of the time I had to feel my way with the hook.

Pattern by Olives Toy Box and was super easy to follow.
Scheepjes Catona cotton
James C Brett Flutterby Chunky with a 3 / 4mm hook used.

This beautiful comforter will be on it’s way to it’s new home soon to await the arrival of it’s new forever friend.

I hope you have enjoyed reading today, take care and enjoy the rest of your day whatever you are doing and I will be back with you soon.

Picnic on the Beach Blanket CAL Week 2

Well I made a right hash of this week, don’t know what’s wrong with me. Long story short I did one of the side panels waves in the back loops of each row rather than just the colour change rows.
What a muppet, It wasn’t till I started the second side that I realised so then I had the mental battle of shall I re do it all?

I decided to carry on with the second side panel and see how bad it would look, turns out it’s more noticeable on the reverse of the blanket so I decided to leave it.

Teach me for wizzing through it like I know what I’m doing won’t it ha ha.

It’s week 3 already tomorrow so lets see what I can bugger up this week, nothing I hope.

Thank you as always for reading, take care and have a lovely weekend. I will be back with week 3 very soon.

Picnic on the Beach Blanket Week 1

I am a little late on my blog catch ups on this one this year, yes it is that time again for the annual crochet along with Coastal Crochet. I love Eleonora’s CALs because I always learn something new and week 1 was no exception. This year the option of colours was summer or Autumn so I opted for Autumn as it has my favourite colour in, can you guess it?

Just look at this Tunisian Entrelac crocheted gingham square to start off this years CAL. So yes you could say I learnt something new straight away.
I was a little worried as I have never really tried Tunisian crochet until recently with not great results I have to confess. I shouldn’t have been, She always does great tutorial videos to support each of her blankets, so I watched studied and off I went.

I looks so effective doesn’t it? But oh my goodness look at all those ends, I think it took longer to weave all those in than it did the whole square itself.

I did make quite a big error on one row but by the time I’d noticed it I’d almost done so I wasn’t frogging it. I wonder if anyone spots it?

Basket Weave (Ugh) love the effect, it hates me. I always lose my way with it and forget to change direction and always end up re doing it and yes this time was no exception. Looks great though and week 2 is already complete so blog will follow soon.

Thank you for reading and watch this space for week 2.
Love you all

More Baby Blankets

With yet more BnM baby yarn.

So I couldn’t resist, yet more baby yarn spotted and brought from BnM (UK) so I just had to make my favourite baby blanket again.
I got home and wound it into cakes straight away not knowing how this would turn out I made a start.

This yarn was so nice to work with and as you know I do love this pattern so I wizzed through the first bobble heart section and looked at the way the colours started to build and loved it.

Of course there was enough left over to make an Octopus to.

What do you think?

Beautiful isn’t it? It didn’t last long and is now on it’s way overseas awaiting the arrival of a new bundle of joy into this world. Cannot wait to see pictures of baby all snuggled.

Thank you for reading, take care and stay safe

Dodo Number 2

You may remember the baby Dodo I made a while back, well I decided to make a little girl one hatching from her egg.

They are popular gifts for babies due with a Mauritius link so she didn’t last long either and is on her way to her new owner as I type this blog.

I do love making these though so I should imagine you will see more soon.

Spring Throw

Happy Sunday and thanks in advance for spending a little time to read today’s blog. It’s been almost a year since I ordered this Spring Throw kit from the Knitting Network and one that I have really struggled with. Not for the pattern and stitches but with keeping stitch count, I don’t normally have issues with stitch count but this blanket was a completely different ball game.
I put it down to some rows using the turning chain as a stitch and some rows not, so in the end I ignored the turning chain and never counted it as a stitch and I was fine after that.
I’ve never liked using the turning chain as a stitch I just don’t like the way it looks, anyone else feel the same? Can’t just be me is it?

So after my third attempt at this throw in the last year here it is finally complete. I am so glad that I decided to pick it up and try again it is so beautiful and the colours really do scream spring and warmer times around the corner doesn’t it?

Hope you all like it and it makes you feel the same, in two minds on whether to keep it or not now, my plans where to sell it in my Etsy shop but not sure now lol.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and keep warm everyone.

Take care and stay safe

A Cat on his Travels

Afternoon everyone, it’s a cold one today in the UK, I do hope if you’re out and about you’re wrapped up and keeping warm.

All this kitty needed was his fish back pack and off he goes. I found this pattern online and shared it on my socials as it was so cute and in came a request straight away. So I purchased the pattern and off I went, however I was asked to make it all black to match their own Kitty so with head in my hands at the thought of working it all in black I made a start.

He worked up really quickly and with the splashes of colour on his little boots, jumper and backpack the black worked out really well.

I wonder where he is off too? Any suggestions?

I think he’s off to fill his back pack with little fishies.

Thanks for reading, have a lovely weekend

BnM Baby Yarn (UK)

Good evening everyone, I hope you are all safe and well? It’s the start of yet another week in lockdown and what are you doing to get through it? Me it’s definitely my crochet I’m not sure what I would do without it on these long dark cold evenings alone, it really does help.

Over Christmas I nipped to BnM with my mum for our toiletries and of course I couldn’t not stop at the yarn, it just sucks me in even when I do my best to avoid it. Well I am so glad that I gave in because I spotted this beautiful chunky white multi coloured spot yarn. My local stores never really have a great amount of stock so I brought all they had (5).

I didn’t have a clue what I was going to make but knew I needed it, well it so happened that my close friends announced the arrival of tiny feet in July 21, if this wasn’t a sign I don’t know what was. Out came my favourite baby blanket pattern and off I went.

I was worried when I started on three fronts 1) Would I have enough yarn? 2) Would the pattern work with one colour? 3) are the recipients going to like it? Well it was soon apparent that no I wouldn’t have enough yarn so I started to panic knowing what the stock levels are like around me. I went along to a different store and there it was six left and in the basket they went. As for looking good in one colour, absolutely it pops lovely. The recipients loved it so all worries soon evaporated.

I had enough yarn left over to make a touch sensitive octopus that matches and looks cool with the spots from the yarn.

This baby blanket has to be my favourite, I just love making them, it never gets boring and works up so quickly, before you know it you’re staring the border.

Pattern – Baby Pandemonium by The Crochet Sanctuary, thank you ladies for this amazing pattern I know I will be making more.

I hope you like it as much as I do and please share what is keeping you entertained through this most recent lockdown.

Thank you for reading, Take care and stay safe
